The throttle adjustor adjusts the idling position of a throttle flap (1) in an inlet manifold (2) of an engine by an electro motor positioning element (5) coupled to it by a lever (15) between two position-sensing devices (16,17). The flap is rotated between idling (LL) and full-load (VL) positions by linkage (12-14) from the accelerator pedal (3) and a return spring (4). An additional return spring (7) urges the lever beyond the min. idling position into an emergency position (LLnot), between idling and full load positions in the event of breakdown of the electro motor positioning elements. ADVANTAGE - Air intake set automatically between min. and max. even when electric actuator or its electronic control is inoperative. No special emergency setting spring is necessary.
