PEST CONTROLLING FIBER AND PEST CONTROLLING KNITTED FABRIC AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain the title fiber (knitted fabric) excellent in specific effects such as resistance to washing by imparting in a sol state a fibrous base material with a composition comprising a pest controlling agent and a silica polymerization reaction liquor containing a silicon alkoxide, water and a catalyst to effect carriage of the resulting gel composition on the surface or inside of the base. CONSTITUTION:Fibers (or a knitted fabric) is sprayed or impregnated with a composition comprising (A) a silica polymerization reaction liquor containing (1) a silicon alkoxide such as tetraethoxysilane or tetramethoxysilane, (2) water and (3) an acidic or basic catalyst (e.g. hydrochloric acid, ammonia) and (B) a pest controlling agent [e.g. dimethyl-(4-ethoxyphenyl){3-(3-phenoxy-4- fluorophenyl)propyl}silane], and the resulting gel composition is carried on the surface or inside of such base material, thus easily giving in a single step the objective pest-controlling fibers (knitted fabric) highly resistant to washing and long sustainable in pest controlling effect for mite and fiber insect pests.
