[Also in Divisions C7 and H1] A method of sensitizing a porous photographic support comprises disposing solutions which react to form an ionically conducting photo-sensitive precipitate e.g. silver halide on opposite sides of the support so that deposition of the precipitate occurs in the pores; and establishing an electric field between the solutions to transfer ions from one of the solutions through the precipitate to react with the other of the solutions and extend the precipitate in the pores. The support may be sheet like and may be an electrical insulator, e.g. of polycarbonate resin polymer, glass, cellulose, cellulose acetate or mica. In examples, AgCl and AgBr are deposited in a porous polycarbonate resin support. |
