The invention concerns a process for the surface treatment of a texturing roller, an electron beam being used to produce a figured surface on the roller. In this process, the roller is exposed for a certain period of time to an electron beam of energy density sufficient to produce a recess, after which it is exposed for a certain period of time to an electron beam of an energy density which leaves the surface structure essentially unchanged.
