[Also in Division H2] An inductor 1248<SP>1</SP> having a substantially linear inductance which varies not more than 10% over the range of 10% to 100% of its rated current comprises a laminated core 1300<SP>1</SP> the centre leg 1304<SP>1</SP> of which includes a plurality of air gaps 1302a<SP>1</SP>, 1302b<SP>1</SP>, 1302c<SP>1</SP> the coil 1306<SP>1</SP> of the inductor being wound around the centre leg 1304<SP>1</SP> and provided with a number of cooling ducts 1308<SP>1</SP>. The laminated core may be conventionally bolted together with a suitable non- magnetic angle frame and the laminations of the air-gapped centre leg secured together by means of an epoxy material.
