The invention relates to a cooling air cover for a vehicle radiator comprising gills lined up like a shutter in a cover plane, which are each respectively capable of swivelling about parallel axes extending transversely to the admission flow direction of the cooling air into a closed position and a passage position, the gills in their passage position being set parallel to the admission flow direction of the cooling air over one section of the surface of the cooling air cover. In order to achieve a uniform flow of cooling air through the radiator over the cooling air cover, the extent of the surface of the cooling air cover is matched to the air outlet cross-section of the radiator and arranged behind the latter in the clear cross-section of a fan cowl enclosing the flow of cooling air between the radiator and a fan, which fan cowl on one circumferential side of the fan has a cross-flow baffle, the air inlet cross-section of the fan and the baffle of the cooling air cover lying opposite one another with a vertical gap and the gills of the cooling air cover lying opposite the baffle in their passage position being set inclined towards the admission direction of flow of the cooling air and extending in the direction of the fan.
