The invention is intended for achieving a very simple data acquisition, the acquired data then being transmitted to a subscriber line via a telephone set. A receiving device (E) for infrared signals is connected to the DPMF transmitting device (S), the data signals received by the receiving device (E) being transmitted to the subscriber line by the transmitting device (S) when the telephone set is in the call state. A cordless barcode reading pen with a memory, which stores the barcode information scanned by means of the reading pen and sends it out in the form of infrared signals when a key is pressed, is used for data acquisition.
