Device for running flat for a vehicle wheel, equipped with a tyre having no air chamber mounted on the rim of the wheel, with, inside the said tyre, a toroidal support element, the outer surface of which is at a distance from the inner surface of the tread of the tyre when the latter is in its normal operating condition. The said toroidal element (11) has the shape of a hollow beam made from an elastomeric material with a constant cross-section over its entire angular span, the inner surface (32) of which is formed by a multiplicity of arches (33) made from a material with a high modulus of flexure which thus forms a reinforcement for the beam and which are joined together by the said elastomeric material. <IMAGE> |
