APPARATUS FOR ELECTROLYTICALLY PICKLING THICK PLATE

PURPOSE:To efficiently remove rigid oxide scale sticking to both sides of thick plates in a short time by arranging means of parallel moving electrodes placed opposite to the thick plates and supplying electric current between the thick plates and the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Thick plates 4 are vertically held in a pickling tank 2 with a support stand 5 and stoppers 7. Movable electrodes 6 are vertically placed with holding means such as suspending members 9 so that each of the electrodes 6 confront at least one side of each of the plates 4. The members 9 are wound up and unwound through pulleys 11 to move the electrodes 6 upward and downward in the vertical direction. A power source 14 is connected to the plates 4 and the electrodes 6 and electric current is supplied between the plates 4 and the electrodes 6 to electrolytically pickle the plates 4. Thus, the treatment time required to descale the plates 4 can be shortened.
