PURPOSE:To enable efficient extraction and separation of the titled compound from a reaction liquid produced by hydrating cyclohexene in the presence of an acid, without using a process necessitating large amount of water, heat, etc., such as distillation, by contacting the reaction liquid with a liquid mixture of hydrocarbons and phenols. CONSTITUTION:Cyclohexene is hydrated in the presence of an acid and the reaction liquid is made to contact with a liquid mixture of hydrocarbons (preferably benzene, toluene, cyclohexene, etc.) and phenols (preferably phenol, cresol, pyrocatechol, etc.) to extract and separate the objective compound from the reaction liquid. The extraction temperature is preferably between normal temperature and about 200 deg.C. The amount of the phenols in the liquid mixture is 0.1-2pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the hydrocarbons and the amount of the liquid mixture is 0.01-1pt.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the aqueous solution for hydration reaction. The concentration of acid in the reaction system is preferably 30-70wt.%.
