PURPOSE:To shorten the kneading time and to increase the workability by adding an organic compound as gelling agent to a binder solution in a gelling process. CONSTITUTION:A binder is dissolved in a solvent and an organic compound is added to a binder solution at the time of cooling. The binder solution gels in a short time and it is kneaded with an active material powder mainly comprising cadmium oxide at low temperature to form paste. The paste is applied to both surfaces of a porous metal core. By making gel the binder solution in a short time by this method, the viscosity of the binder solution is lowered and stabilized, and when the binder solution is kneaded with the active material powder, the solvent quickly penetrates into the active material powder and the contact resistance between particles is decreased due to the solvent existing between powder and powder. Therefore, the paste having softness and viscosity suitable for coating is obtained in a short time. |
