PURPOSE:To improve a success rate of initial program load and to automatically and highly efficiently raise a system by switching a current path automatically to an alternate path to retry said load when the initial program load is failed. CONSTITUTION:At the time of failing the initial program load, the present path is temporarily switched to the alternate path by a switching means for detecting the failure of the initial program load and switching logical connection between a processor 1 and I/O control devices 2a-2n and then the initial program load is retried. Consequently, the initial program load can be retired by means of the alternate path and the system is automatically and efficiently raised.
