The invention deals with a shearer loader (1), the cutting drums (6) of which rotate about a vertical or horizontal axis (11). Each of the cutting drums (6) is mounted on a supporting arm (10) rigidly or pivotably connected to the machine body and is connected to the drive motor in the machine body via a gear train (13) arranged in the supporting arm (10). A cutting wheel (16) lies concentrically with respect to the cutting-drum axis (11) in a supporting-arm plane (A) running at right angles to this axis (11). It transmits the rotary movement of the drive motor to the cutting drum (6). The peripheral surface of this cutting wheel (16) is fitted with a tooth system, meshing with the supporting-arm gear train (13), and with cutting tools (18). The latter lie in the peripheral plane of the teeth and project beyond their tip circle diameter. In each case one cutting-tool pair is arranged between two teeth each, and the gear (13) meshing with the cutting wheel (16) has a pocket (17) between two teeth each. The pocket (17) receives the heads of the cutting tools (18) during the rotation of the wheel (16). The cutting wheel (16) and gear (13) are subdivided by the horizontal supporting-arm plane (A) into two discs (13a, 13b, 16a, 16b) of the same height.
