PURPOSE:To obtain good fixing function with small electric power by making delay time variable according to the surface temperature of a roller detected by a temperature detecting means after applying power source. CONSTITUTION:An aperture 519' is formed at a supporting plate 519, and a heat exhaust fan 521 as an air cooling means is connected to the aperture 519'. The fan 521 is provided on the side of a fixing device, and a heat exhaust fan 530 is installed in the vicinity of an image carrier 1, and the two fans 521, 530 are connected to a control circuit 532 through driving circuits 531, 534. A detecting circuit 533 applying power source to an image forming device and detecting the surface of a heating fixing roller 501 is connected to the control circuit 532, and when the circuit 533 detects the application of power source, the control circuit 532 detects the surface temperature of the heating fixing roller 501, an operates an internal timer according to the detected surface temperature of the roller 501, and prohibits the operation of heat exhaust fans 521, 530 during delay time. After the lapse of delay time, the control circuit drives heat exhaust fans 521, 530 again through driving circuits 531, 534.
