PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium having favorable adhesion of a coated layer, low in possibility of dusting and having a high ink absorption, by incorporating an aqueous copolymer containing a silane compound and synthetic particulate silica functioning as a main pigment into an ink-receiving layer, and specifying the weight ratio of the aqueous copolymer to pigments. CONSTITUTION:This ink jet recording medium comprises at least one ink- receiving layer, Which comprises an aqueous copolymer obtained by emulsion polymerization of a monomeric mixture comprising an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, a polymerizable monomer and a silane compound in an aqueous medium and synthetic particulate silica functioning as a main pigment. At least one ink receiving layer comprises 10-80 pts.wt. of the aqueous copolymer per 100 pts.wt. of pigments. The polymerizable monomer is at least one polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid having at least one carboxyl group in its molecule. By this, a sufficient adhesive force can be obtained by using small amounts of materials, and it is possible to enhance the adhesive force while maintaining ink absorption or to enhance the ink absorption while maintaining the adhesive force. |
