PURPOSE:To simplify a structure by dispensing with a clutch mechanism, by making it possible to selectively connect a paper feed roller to a platen operating mechanism by the revolving operation of a change-over arm to the direction corresponding to the rotary direction of a platen. CONSTITUTION:When a platen 1 is reversed, a fulcrum gear 15 and a change- over arm 16 revolve to a clockwise direction and an idler gear 18 is meshed with a roller gear 7 to make it possible to allow a paper feed roller 2 to rotate to the clockwise direction. By this mechanism, the slip 33 on a set plate 36 is sent to the contact parts of the platen 1 and pinch rollers 27, 28. At the point of time when a predetermined number of steps are counted, the motor driving the motor gear 10 is stopped. Subsequently, when the platen is rotated positively, the slip 33 is sent toward a printing part 41. At this time, the change- over arm 16 rotates to the counterclockwise direction so as to follow the fulcrum gear 15 to be received by a stopper 39 and, therefore, the idler gear 18 is spaced apart from the roller gear 7. That is, a power blocking state can be provided between a platen operating mechanism and the paper feed roller 2.
