PURPOSE:To attemp to reduce the amount of developed nitrogen oxides by placing the primary flame openings of a burner head opposite to each other. CONSTITUTION:The surrounding area round a burner head which has a plurality of primary flame openings 12 is covered by a primary combustion chamber 13, and the lower section of the primary flame opening 12 is a pre-mixing chamber 15. The primary air which is supplied from a primary air supply opening 16 and the fuel supplied from a fuel nozzle 17 are mixed in this pre-mixing chamber and the mixture is supplied to the primary flame opening to form a primary combustion flame 18. Because the primary flame openings 12 are mutually opposite to each other, the flames interfere with each other and because the radical in the flame 18 which exists in a large amount near the flame 20 intrudes into the outer flame 21, tie NO which exists there is partially reduced to become N2 gas and the amount of NOx that is produced decreases a great deal.
