PURPOSE:To provide a handy printer capable of simply and beautifully writing italic type, a turn-over character or a contracted character, by providing an ink jet head rotatable around the axis in the direction vertical to the surface of paper. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 1 is engaged with the cylindrical hole of a main body 2 in a rotatable manner in such a state that a nozzle is protruded downwardly and fixed usually by the fixing spring 4 engaged with a notch part 3 so as not to be rotated. If the printing head 1 is moved to the direction opposite to an arrow A when set at the fundamental position shown by a drawing (a), a turn-over character wherein the left and right are reverse can be printed. When the printing head 1 is rotated by 180 deg. to be moved to the direction shown by the arrow A, a turn-over character upside down can be printed. When the printing head 1 is slightly rotated to the direction shown by an arrow B and moved to the direction shown by the arrow A, the printing of italic type is performed. If the printing head 1 is rotated by an angle theta as shown by a drawing (b) to perform correction, a character arbitrarily contracted longitudinally and laterally can be printed.
