The soil heater, e.g. for a greenhouse, consists of a pair of hollow, flat rectangular pipes (2a,2b) which are buried in the soil and used to carry hot water in a circuit from a heat source. The pipes are made from a synthetic material or from a mixture of a synthetic material and fibres. The two pipes are joined together at one end by a hollow cap (4) to circulate the water from one pipe to the other, and at the other end by a similar cap (3) with inlet and outlet connecting pipes (5,6). An inner partition (8) separates the two flows.
