The brim of a paper web(4) formed in single or multiple layers from aqueous fiber suspension ejected through an opening(2) of a head box(3) is separated and collected on a porous travelling wire(1) of a paper mill by cutting the brim with a blade95) located in a direction longitudinal to the web and receiving the cut brim with transportation devices (11),(12),(13) and a conduit (8) having several walls. The width of the cut web is controlled by manipulating the direction of (5) with devices (16),(17),(13), (19).
