Multi-tubular battery plates

A multi-tubular battery plate comprises a plurality of tubes 2 each of which contains active material and a conductive spine 4 extending along its length and is closed at one end by a respective plastics bung 6. The bungs are connected together to form a bottom bar and each affords a space 14 within which a respective spine 4 is slidably received. The bottom bar has one or more projections 12 on the side remote from the tubes 2 and a portion of each spine 4 on the side of the bungs 6 remote from the tubes 2 is deformed whereby the bottom bar may not be readily removed from the spines 4.
