PURPOSE:To perform the operation control of a digestion tank in an extremely easy manner, by controlling the amount of digestion gas introduced into a primary digestion tank under pressure corresponding to the concn. of CO2 in exhaust gas from the digestion tank in order to stirr sludge. CONSTITUTION:Sludge supplied to a primary digestion tank 1 through a sludge supply pipe 9 is stirred by digestion gas introduced into said tank 1 under pressure through a nozzle 7 to receive the decomposition of the org. substance therein. The solution mixture after decomposition is guided to a secondary digestion tank 2 through a pipe 10 to receive solid-liquid separation. Digestion gases exhausted from the digestion tanks 1, 2 are exhausted through a communication pipe 3 and a gas collection cylinder 4 but, because the concn. of CO2 in digestion gas is measured by a CO2 concn. measuring instrument 25, the generation amount of digestion gas can be inwon by utilizing mutual relation from the measured CO2 concn. and the state of digestion can be directly discriminated.
