The invention relates to a steam generator (7, 16) with evaporator pipes connected in parallel, which start from a common inlet manifold (8, 39) and open out in a common outlet manifold (9, 40). In such steam generators, there are in certain operating states considerable temperature variations between individual pipes, which variations sometimes lead to the destruction of the steam generator. In order to reduce these temperature variations, the invention envisages that evaporator pipes (1 to 6, 17 to 38), in which these instabilities arise, are interconnected via pressure compensation pipes (10, 11, 43 to 57). The pressure compensation pipes can interconnect evaporator pipes in which the maximum amplitude of the flow rate is mutually phase-displaced by approximately 180 DEG . A steam generator according to the invention is particularly suitable for use in large-scale furnace installations. <IMAGE>
