PURPOSE:To enhance turbulence of air and facilitate mixing of air and fuel, by providing a projection for deflecting a part of main flow of suction air sucked into a cylinder toward auxiliary flow at a valve opening portion on a lower surface of a cylinder head opposite to a top surface of a piston. CONSTITUTION:A top surface 3 of a piston 2 slidably inserted in a cylinder liner 1 is bored to form a combustion chamber 4. An insert 7 having a projection 6 projecting toward the piston 2 is embedded in a valve opening portion on a lower surface of a cylinder head 5 fixed at an upper end of the cylinder liner 1, that is, on a surface opposed to the top surface 3 of the piston 2. Thus, a part of main flow A of suction air sucked through a suction port 8 into a cylinder 9 is guided as a deflected flow C toward auxiliary flow B. As a result, the deflected flow C collides with the auxiliary flow B to generate turbulence, and the turbulence collides with the main flow A to be amplified. Accordingly, strong air turbulence is generated in the cylinder 9, and may be sufficiently mixed with fuel. |
