METHOD AND REAGENT FOR SCREENING PREDIABETES STATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of screening prediabetes state by which prediabetes states can be discriminated more accurately without imposing physical burdens upon patients and, in addition, many specimens can be processed, and to provide a diagnostic medicine used for the method. SOLUTION: A patient who is in a prediabetes state is detected by measuring the D-mannose concentration, preferably, D-mannose concentration and glucose concentration of a body fluid collected from the patient and comparing the measured concentrations with their reference values. The measurement of the D-mannose concentration is performed by causing an enzyme that can oxidize the mannose through dehydrogenation to act to the mannose under the presence of an electron acceptor and quantitatively determining the reduced product of the electron acceptor.
