The device has a housing frame and a heating part for heating the webs. Directly below an upper welding shoe (18), a lower welding shoe (36) is provided which, forming a part of the welding device (1), is firmly joined mechanically to the housing frame (6) or to the upper welding shoe (18) in order, during welding, to form a unit supported exclusively on the material being welded (3, 4) and to achieve reliable and good welding even in the case of a poor substrate. The welding shoes are designed as roller carriages (18, 36). The join is a curved arm, for example a swanneck. A number of the rollers (20, 21; 44, 45) of the roller carriages (18, 36) are driven by a central geared motor, the drive being designed at least in part as a chain drive (68, 69) or as a gearwheel drive. The heated wedge (10) and, for example corrugated, welding rollers (20, 21; 44, 45) are provided in the centre part of the welding shoes. The latter are preferably offset in order to produce a double welder seam with test channel lying in between. A housing (16) serves to cover the retracted heated wedge (10). <IMAGE> |
