Scissors type HV circuit breaker - has gripper contacts on cross members and pair of scissors joints linked to universal joint formed in two parts

A scissors-type h.v. circuit breaker consists of a drive mounted on a support. The drive unit is linked to the scissors mechanism with lower and upper intersecting scissors members with a cross-link. There are two gripper contact piece supports with contacts attached to the cross member. There are only two upper scissors links (4,5) which are located between the scissors joints (6,7) and the universal joint (8). The gripping contact piece supports (9,10) are mounted symmetrically w.r.t. a central axis. The universal joint (8) consists of two identical halves (13,14) located so as to subtend an obtuse angle.
