Hair treatment compsn. contains tonka (I) (dipterix operata Wild) extract. The extract is prepd. by treating ground (I) with vegetable oil and filtering. The oil is pref. palm kernal oil or soya oil. N an example a compsn. contained: 200 pts. unpurified vaseline, 100 pts. wool fat; 100 pts. vegetable oil (50:50 olive oil/peanut oil); 50 pts. tonka extract; 100 pts liq. paraffin and 3 pts. perfume. The tonka extract was prepd. by grinding 2 pts. tonka with 2 pts. palm kernel oil, increasing the amt. of oil to 50 pts. and allowing the prod. to stand 2 months before filtration.
