PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions and methods useful for enhancing biological, pharmaceutical, safety and/or therapeutic properties of biologically active proteins.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a composition comprising a biologically active protein linked to an extended recombinant polypeptide (XTEN), an isolated nucleic acid encoding the composition and vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid, as well as methods for using such a composition for treating glucose-related diseases, metabolic diseases, coagulation disorders and growth hormone-related disorders and symptoms. In one aspect, the invention provides a composition of extended recombinant polypeptide (XTEN), which composition, when linked to a biologically active protein, enhances the pharmacokinetic properties of the obtained fusion protein, and/or increases the solubility and stability of the obtained fusion protein, while enhancing overall biological activity and/or therapeutic activity of the biologically active protein.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
