A liquid spray or jet device has a pressurising pump (1), two stage valve and a spraying or delivery lance which may be shut off or sealed. Part of the fluid circulated and pressurised by the pump can be diverted through the lance. A control valve (4) regulates the amount of fluid being delivered from the lance. The proportion of fluid which is diverted from the main insulatory flow is fed into the space below one of the pistons (5b) of the two stage valve (5).
