PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frequency mixer which has a simpler configuration. SOLUTION: This mixer is provided with a PIN type photodiode 10 which has 4 nonlinear characteristic in the neighborhood of 0 V voltage in a current- voltage characteristic at the time of being irradiated with bias light having prescribed light power. Here, a frequency-mixed signal after the frequencies of 1st and 2nd electric signals are mixed is outputted from the photodiode 10 by setting an operation point in the neighborhood of 0 V voltage, applying the 1st inputted electric signal to the photodiode 10 and on the other hand, by irradiating the photodiode 10 with bias light that undergoes intensity modulation by an external light modulator 5 according to the 2nd inputted electric signal. |
