The invention relates to a device for mounting and adjusting traffic installations and/or the lighting means thereof on traffic areas, for example in order to secure construction sites and hazard points in public traffic. Traffic installations of this type, in particular warning lights, are frequently carried by the police or other services in motor vehicles, usually cars. They have to be compact and, when used, are erected on the traffic area for securing purposes. In order to make the height of the light spot adjustable, when the traffic installation is erected on the traffic area, in such a manner that the emitted light signals or other information can be best seen by the road users, a moveable and adjustable connecting device is provided between the functional part (1), which supplies the information, and the supporting base part (3), which may contain the power supply device and the switch gear, this connecting device making it possible, after the erection of the base part (3) on the traffic area, to adjust the functional part (1) to a desired position. This connecting device is preferably designed as a telescopic rod (5) which carries the functional part (1) at the upper end as a provider of information. This telescopic rod (5) makes it possible to adjust the functional part (1) to a desired position, for example at approximately head height for a person sitting in a car. The information emitted by the functional part (1), for example optical signals, can thus be seen even at a relatively long distance in a queue of vehicles.
