Embodiments of this application provide a method and an apparatus for acquiring context information of user equipment. The method includes: receiving, by a first network-side device, a measurement report sent by user equipment; determining a handover target cell and a candidate cell according to the measurement report and a first neighboring-cell configuration relationship; and separately sending context information of the user equipment to a second network-side device to which the handover target cell belongs and a third network-side device to which the candidate cell belongs, where the context information is used to re-establish a radio resource control RRC connection between the user equipment and the second network-side device or the third network-side device when a handover fails. According to the embodiments of this application, a probability that user equipment re-establishes an RRC connection to a cell having context information is increased, which facilitates rapid recovery of a service. |
