The equipment discourages birds from flying into a particular area, e.g. near overhead electric power lines. It comprises images of a bird or prey, typically suspended from a separate cable carrying no current. The images can be of cloth, plate or other sheet-type material, cut into the silhouette of a bird of prey. The cable can be laid by a helicopter flying between masts, at each of which someone grips an auxiliary ropes as to pull the cable off the reel in the helicopter and anchor to the mast. The cable can have a loop engaging with a hook on the mast.
