发明名称 Joint pour électrodes
摘要 670,162. Furnace electrodes. UNION CARBIDE & CARBON CORPORATION. Jan. 1, 1950 [Jan. 15, 1949]. No. 33213/ 49. Class 39(iii). In a joint between sections 10, 12 of a graphite or carbon electrode, especially for furnaces, in which externally threaded carbonaceous nipple 14 engages threaded sockets in the sections, one or more cavities 17 are formed in or adjacent the end face of the socket or nipple and contain a fusible carbonaceous material, e.g. coal tar pitch, so that, on heating, the pitch passes through passages 20 over the threaded surfaces to cement them together. The passages 20 are radially disposed in the nipple or are longitudinal grooves in the threads. The pitch may be held in the cavity 17 by a wire screen 18 and carbonises when the electrode is heated. The ridges of the nipple threads do not contact the bottom of the grooves in the socket, thereby leaving a spiral passage for the melted pitch. The ends of the nipple have one or more recesses for the pitch.
