PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet transfer device and a packet transfer method capable of improved control of a communication path.SOLUTION: The packet transfer device includes: a plurality of ports; a switch unit that exchanges packets among the plurality of ports according to a routing table; a reception unit that receives a command input from an operator; a setting processing unit that sets the routing table so as to transfer the packet to the next node on the communication path set by the command input among a plurality of nodes; and a fault detection unit that detects a link fault in a network. The setting processing unit changes the settings of the routing table so as to switch a transfer destination of the packet to the next node on an autonomously established communication path when the fault detection unit detects a fault of a link to the next node on the communication path set by the command input, and maintains the settings of the routing table when the fault detection unit detects a link fault at another part in the network. |
