PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printing system and an ink jet printing method for a double-sided printing system which forms images on a top surface and a reverse surface of a printing medium such that the printing medium has high precision in registration precision on its top and reverse, and size reduction and space saving are achieved.SOLUTION: An ink jet printing system includes: a medium conveyance part (30) which includes a gripper (30D) gripping a front end of a sheet type printing medium (11) and conveys the printing medium having the front end gripped along a conveyance direction; an image forming part (20) which forms images on both the surfaces of the printing medium; and a medium inversion part (36) which includes a gripper (36A) and delivers the printing medium, gripped by the gripper and inverted by rotation on an axis parallel with the conveyance direction of the printing medium as an axis (200) of rotation, to the medium conveyance part, the front end of the printing medium being gripped by one of the gripper of the medium conveyance part and the gripper of the medium inversion part during the deliver of the printing medium between the medium conveyance part and medium inversion part. |
