<p>The insert (30) has cutting edges (20) i.e. main cuts, formed between upper surfaces (10, 12) and side surfaces (14) of the insert. A corner cut is provided at a transition from one of the cutting edges to the other cutting edge. The corner cut is formed from a middle section (22M) with a large radius, and outer sections (22A) with a small radius on both sides of the corner cut, where each outer section crosses over into one of the respective cutting edges. The outer sections have a same radius of curvature lying in a range from 0.1 to 0.8 mm, preferably in magnitude of 0.4 mm. An independent claim is also included for a gear milling cutter.</p> |
