PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of an interface circuit with a transmission line comprised in a communication device.SOLUTION: A communication device comprises: a communication port to which multiple transmission speeds can be set; a traffic detection unit for detecting traffic at the communication port in a prescribed period at a prescribed time interval; and a transmission speed control unit for setting a lowest transmission speed at or above a reference transmission speed obtained on the basis of past traffic and current traffic detected by the traffic detection unit as the transmission speed of the communication port.
