<p>PURPOSE: A sparse programming of analog memory cells is provided to increase the storage reliability of sensitive information by using sparse programming schemes. CONSTITUTION: A data storage device includes an interface and a storage circuit. The interface communicates with a memory(24) including an array(28) of analog memory cells(32). A storage circuit selects a group of memory cells, makes each memory cell of the group have one or more adjacent memory cells in an array except the group and stores data in the group of the memory cells except the adjacent memory cells from one programming to store data in the group of the memory cells.
