PURPOSE: A monascus pigment amine derivative which suppresses differentiation of adipocyte precursor cells is provided to inhibit 3T3-L1 differentiation process and to prevent or treat obesity. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating obesity contains an amine derivative compound of chemical formula 1 and pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The amine derivative compound is synthesized by culturing Monascus sp. J101(KCCM 10093) in liquid to preparing Monascus orange pigment and reacting with amine compound. A food for preventing or treating obesity contains the amine derivative compound of chemical formula 1. The food is manufactured in the form of beverage, chocolate, snack, pizza, ramen, noodles, gums, candies, ice creams, drink, vitamin complex and health additive.
