PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved technique for communication between a central processing unit (CPU) and a graphics processing unit (GPU) in a data processing device. SOLUTION: A common memory which can be accessed by the CPU and the GPU is provided so that a data structure can be shared by the CPU and the GPU through the common memory. Buses are also provided so that communication can be achieved among the CPU, GPU and common memory through the common memory. On the basis of a first mechanism for controlling the GPU, the CPU sends a control signal via the buses. In addition, an interface is provided between the CPU and the GPU.
