A method and a server for transmitting data are provided to increase user convenience by selectively editing the desired data and reduce data transmission load by partially transmitting only the edited data. A data transmitter(110) transmits display data and attribute data for displaying the display data to a display device. A user interface part(130) receives a data editing command from a user. An editor(140) edits at least one of the display and attribute data according to the received data editing command. A controller(150) enables the data transmitter to retransmit only the edited data to the display device. The user interface part generates a user interface window for selecting one target display device among a plurality of display devices. The controller enables the data transmitter to transmit the edited data to the display device selected through the user interface window.
