<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent color mixture in a developing device in a tandem type image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with: a toner image forming apparatus for each color having an image carrier (Py, Pm, Pc or Pk) on which a latent image is formed, and the developing device (Gy, Gm, Gc or Gk) having a rotating member for development opposed to the image carrier (Py, Pm, Pc or Pk) and carrying toner on its surface, and developing the latent image on the surface of the image carrier (Py, Pm, Pc or Pk) to be a toner image; and a toner consuming operation control means (C8) generating electric field for toner consumption to make the toner move toward the image carrier (Py, Pm, Pc or Pk) from the rotating member for development in a state in which driving the rotating member for development is stopped, so that the toner on the surface of the rotating member for development (G1y, G1m, G1c or G1k) is consumed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
