Provided is a molded organic plastic foam body, which has excellent heat resistance, durability, impact-absorbing property, molding processability, noise-protecting and -absorbing properties, heat insulation property, flame resistance and water resistance. The molded organic plastic foam body is obtained by the method comprising the steps of: forming plastic beads or plastic foam; coating the plastic beads or plastic foam with a silicate modified with at least one of alkaline earth metal compounds, alkaline earth metal compound-containing materials and acids; and carrying out fusion bonding and molding of the plastic beads or plastic foam under the application of heat and pressure, followed by drying. The silicate is at least one selected from the group consisting of sodium silicate, potassium silicate and lithium silicate. |
