Centrifuge for the sepn. of molten metal mixts. at high temp. is described, where the rotor is a hollow sphere fixed in a ring located via bearing balls in a ring frame fitted with a motor and gears to rotate the ring and thus the sphere. The frame is fitted with two tilting trunnions located on a horizontal axis in a stand. The hollow sphere has a refractory lining, and a diametrically opposed inlet and outlet, both on the tiltable axis of rotation of the sphere, and one of the trunnions has a drive unit for tilting the frame. Underneath the discharge outlet is a funnel fitted on the stand and under which pans or receiver ladles can be placed. Used for sepg. molten metals of different density, or e.g. slag from molten metal. Slag can be sepd. at 1200-1300 degrees C from metals such as An, Pb or Cu, where the bearings for the rings are not exposd to high temps.; and the oxidn. of the molten metal is avoided.
