摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner which has simple structure and readily detects the synchronization of a plurality of light beams, and to provide a method of detecting the synchronization used for the optical scanner. SOLUTION: In a laser scanning unit 1, laser beams 30a and 30b, and laser beams 30c and 30d, emitted from multibeam light sources 2A and 2B, respectively, are made incident on the mirror face of a polygon mirror 8 at different incident angles in a deflection direction. Further, the luminous flux on the beginning side of scanning is folded between the polygon mirror 8 and an optical path separation optical element 24 by a folding mirror 21, made incident on a synchronization sensor unit 22, and the synchronization detection of four beams are performed by a single synchronization sensor unit 22.
