METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING POROUS CERAMICS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing porous ceramics with high adsorbability.

SOLUTION: The manufacturing method has a mixing step to produce a mixture where a combustible containing carbon is added to bottom mud and a burning step to heat the mixture to the temperature for burning the bottom mud and for carbonizing the combustible and to burn it so that carbon in the combustible remains without combustion. The burning step is practically performed in an oxygen-free condition. The manufactured porous ceramics with high adsorbability has pores formed by the combustion of an inorganic matter in the bottom mud, pores formed by the carbonization of the combustible and a carbonized matter generated by the carbonization of the combustible.
