PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine constituted to stably transport fuel spray in the internal combustion engine which transports fuel spray to the periphery of an ignition plug by tumble flow. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine which transports fuel spray to the periphery of the ignition plug using the tumble flow A has a piston 3 provided with a cavity 10 in the top face, and the tumble flow A flows along the cavity 10. The cavity 10 has a means for reducing the difference depending on the outflow part of flow velocity when the tumble flow A flows out of the cavity 10, e.g., a tumble flow outflow side cavity sidewall 11a curved in convex shape toward the inside of the cavity. The difference depending on the outflow part of the flow velocity when the tumble flow A flows out of the cavity 10 is thereby reduced, and the fuel spray is stably transported to the periphery of the ignition plug to reduce torque fluctuation and to improve fuel economy and emission.
