The use of cyclic carbonates (I) which polymerize under the action of an external stimulus, in cosmetic media, is new. An Independent claim is also included for a cosmetic composition comprising a cosmetic medium containing a combination of (I) and at least one compound (II) selected from anionic, nonionic or amphoteric fixing polymers, direct, anionic or quaternized cationic dyes, oxidation hair dyes, reductants, surfactants and/or oxidants.
